Easy Homemade Strawberry Frozen Yogurt

Easy Homemade Strawberry Frozen Yogurt blends plain yogurt, honey or maple syrup, and frozen strawberries for a smooth, creamy frozen treat. Processing these ingredients creates a soft-serve consistency quickly without needing an ice cream maker. Optional lemon juice adds brightness. The recipe adapts well to different yogurt types, sweeteners, and fruits, providing a refreshing dessert or snack that can be served immediately or frozen longer for a firmer texture.

Description

This Easy Homemade Strawberry Frozen Yogurt combines plain yogurt, a sweetener like honey or pure maple syrup, and frozen strawberries in a food processor until creamy and smooth. Lemon juice can be added for extra brightness. The yogurt provides a tangy base, while the sweetener and fruit soften and sweeten the flavor naturally. Processing breaks down the frozen strawberries to achieve a soft-serve texture.

The frozen yogurt serves well immediately for a soft consistency or can be transferred to a container and frozen for several hours or weeks if a firmer texture is preferred. The recipe is easy to double for larger quantities given a sufficiently large food processor or blender.

Adaptations include using different yogurt types, such as full-fat Greek yogurt for richness or nonfat for lighter results. Various fruits can replace strawberries depending on preferences and availability.

Ingredients

Servings
  • ½ cup PLAIN yogurt see note
  • ¼ cup honey or pure maple syrup
  • 16 ounces strawberry about 4 cups, frozen
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice optional, fresh

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of a 7- or 8 cup food processor, add the yogurt, honey or maple syrup, frozen strawberries (and lemon juice, if using).
  2. Process until the frozen yogurt is smooth and thick, about 3-4 minutes, scraping down the sides of the container several times, if needed, and using a tamper for the blender to help incorporate the ingredients.
  3. Serve immediately for soft-serve consistency, or transfer the frozen yogurt to a container and freeze for several hours or up to several weeks.

Notes

  • Using full-fat plain Greek yogurt yields a richer and creamier frozen yogurt, but low-fat or no-fat varieties also work.
  • The recipe scales easily for larger batches if your processor is big enough.
  • A high-powered blender can produce a smoother texture.
  • Using whole frozen, unsweetened strawberries preserves natural flavor without added sugar.
  • Other fruits can substitute to vary the flavor profile.
