Easy Italian Salad

The Easy Italian Salad blends crisp romaine or iceberg lettuce with slightly bitter radicchio, cherry tomatoes, red onion, black olives, and pepperoncini peppers for a balance of flavors and textures. Tossed in Italian dressing and topped with seasoned croutons and shredded Parmesan cheese, this salad offers a fresh and tangy complement to many meals. Fresh herbs enhance the taste and aroma.

Description

This salad combines a variety of leafy greens including romaine and radicchio, contributing a mix of crispness and bitterness. Cherry tomatoes add juicy sweetness, while thinly sliced red onions bring mild sharpness. The inclusion of black olives and pepperoncini peppers introduces a briny and slightly spicy element.

Seasoned croutons provide crunch, contrasting the tender vegetables. The salad is dressed with Italian dressing, which typically includes oil, vinegar, herbs, and spices to tie the flavors together. Fresh parsley or basil lends herbal brightness to the mix, with shredded Parmesan cheese adding a salty, nutty dimension on top.

Ideal as a starter or side dish, this salad enhances a variety of main courses and offers a refreshing way to include vegetables. Leftover salad ingredients should be stored separately from dressing to maintain crispness.

Prepare homemade Italian dressing or use store-bought as preferred. Properly storing leftover salad in an airtight container can keep it fresh for up to four days without dressing.
