Easy Mexican Tostada
Description
Easy Mexican Tostada combines crisp tostada shells with a flavorful spread of refried beans and a ground beef mixture seasoned with chili powder, cumin, paprika, and other spices. The meat and beans provide a hearty base with complex savory notes. Fresh diced onion blends into the meat, complementing the richness of the beans and beef. Layered with finely chopped lettuce, crumbled queso fresco, creamy avocado slices, Mexican crema or sour cream, and salsa, the tostada balances contrasting textures and fresh and creamy flavors.
The tostadas are assembled just before serving to maintain the shell's crispiness. They work well as a main dish or as part of a casual Mexican meal. Toppings like hot sauce allow customizing the spice level. Ground beef may be substituted with chicken, pork, or shredded beef depending on preference.
To make ahead, keep components separate in the refrigerator, then reheat meat and beans before assembling. Corn tortillas offer a gluten-free base if frying your own shells. This versatility lets you tailor the tostadas according to dietary needs.
