Easy Mint Mojitos

Easy Mint Mojitos feature a classic combination of fresh mint, lime-infused simple syrup, white rum, and seltzer water served over crushed ice. The recipe uses a homemade lime-infused syrup and muddled mint leaves to extract aromatic oils, creating a balanced cocktail with refreshing citrus and herbal notes. The drink is served in glasses rimmed with a lime-sugar-salt mixture enhancing each sip.

Description

The cocktail begins with a lime-infused simple syrup made by simmering lime juice, water, and sugar, which adds a bright citrus sweetness to the mojito. Fresh mint leaves are lightly muddled to release their oils without over-bruising, preserving aroma and flavor. Combined with freshly squeezed lime juice, white rum, and the syrup, the mixture is shaken with ice to chill and blend flavors before straining into glasses filled with crushed ice.

The rims of the glasses are coated with a mix of sugar, flaky sea salt, and lime zest, complementing the cocktail's brightness and adding texture. Finally, a splash of seltzer water lightens the drink, delivering a crisp and effervescent finish, garnished with lime slices and additional mint sprigs for visual appeal and aroma.

This mint mojito balances sweet, tart, and herbal elements with the delicate fizz of seltzer, making it a refreshing beverage suitable for warm weather or casual gatherings. The homemade lime syrup adds depth compared to plain sugar syrup.

Mojito

  • 10 mint leaf fresh
  • 4 tablespoons simple syrup or granulated sugar, lime infused
  • 6 lime small wedges
  • 4 ounces white rum
  • seltzer water
  • ice cubes

Instructions

Lime Infused Simple Syrup:

  1. Add all ingredients to a medium sized pot and bring to a simmer. Place lid on the pot and let simmer for about 10 minutes. (It’s important to keep the lid on or too much of the water will dissolve.)
  2. Transfer the contents to a small glass jar and place in the refrigerator to cool.

Mojitos:

  1. Combine the sugar, flaky sea salt, and lime zest on a plate. Rim both glasses with a lime wedge, then coat the rim with the sugar mixture and fill with crushed ice.
  2. In a cocktail shaker or glass jar, lightly muddle the mint with a cocktail muddler or the back of a wooden spoon until aromatic. Add the rum, lime juice, simple syrup, a handful of ice cubes and shake.
  3. Strain into the two glasses, top with a splash of seltzer water and garnish with lime slices and more mint.
