Easy Monkey Bread Recipe

This Easy Monkey Bread is made with canned biscuit dough coated in a cinnamon brown sugar mixture and baked in melted butter until golden. The dough quarters bake into soft, gooey clusters that pull apart easily, making it a sweet and sticky treat. Made in a bundt pan or pie plate, it’s ideal as a sweet breakfast or dessert when shared among family or guests.

Description

Easy Monkey Bread Recipe transforms simple canned biscuit dough by layering it with a blend of light brown sugar and ground cinnamon. The butter is melted first in the baking pan, coating the base to help caramelize the sugar coating and results in a rich, buttery crust. The biscuit quarters bake together until lightly browned and the sugar mixture becomes syrupy, creating tender, pull-apart bread pieces.

The texture is soft and slightly gooey inside with a crisped sugary exterior from the cinnamon sugar and butter mixture. After baking, the pan is inverted onto a serving plate to reveal a sticky sweet loaf, perfect for sharing.

This monkey bread is well suited for breakfast, brunch, or a casual dessert. Its sweet richness pairs well with coffee or tea. The recipe is straightforward, and doubling is easy for larger groups with a slightly extended bake time to ensure even cooking.

Care should be taken when flipping the hot pan to release the monkey bread to avoid burns and keep the shape intact.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 12 ounce biscuit dough canned, refrigerated, extra large
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 heaping tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place butter into an 8-inch circular pie plate or bundt pan and place in the oven while preheating to melt the butter. When melted, swirl around to get all of the nooks and crannies.
  2. Meanwhile, mix light brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Cut each biscuit into quarters.
  3. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture into pie plate or bundt pan first, then loosely arrange biscuit quarters on top.
  4. Bake for 20 mins, or until tops are light brown.
  5. While still hot and very carefully, fit a serving platter over the top of your cooking vessel and quickly invert. Tap the pie plate or bundt pan several times to the monkey bread loosens, then remove.
  6. Serve and enjoy!
