Easy Oatmeal Pie Crust

The Easy Oatmeal Pie Crust uses quick-cooking oats combined with flour, brown sugar, salt, and cold butter to create a crumbly, textured base for pies. The crust is pressed into a pie plate and baked until lightly browned, providing a rustic alternative to traditional flour-only pie crusts with a distinctive oat flavor and crunch.

Description

This pie crust recipe blends quick-cooking oats with all-purpose flour, dark or light brown sugar, and salt. Cold unsalted butter is cut into the dry ingredients until the mixture becomes crumbly, resembling coarse sand. Pressing this mixture firmly onto the bottom and sides of a greased 9-inch pie plate forms the crust for baking.

Baking at 375°F for 13 to 15 minutes cooks the crust until it gains a light brown color and a crisp texture, while maintaining some oat chewiness. Any sliding of the crust up the plate sides is corrected while it cools slightly to keep its shape. Once fully cooled, this crust can be filled with your preferred cream or fruit fillings for a complete pie.

The crust offers a nutty sweetness from the brown sugar and oats, setting it apart from conventional pastry crusts. It's suitable for a variety of cream pies or no-bake filling pies requiring a sturdy base.
