Easy Oreo Truffles
Description
To prepare Easy Oreo Truffles, Oreo cookies are crushed finely while the cream cheese softens to room temperature to allow smooth mixing. The cookie crumbs and cream cheese blend into a thick, scoopable mixture shaped into uniform balls using a cookie scoop for consistent size.
After chilling to firm up, the truffles are coated by dipping into melted chocolate until fully covered. The coating sets to a firm shell, providing a pleasant textural contrast to the creamy interior. Sprinkles or other garnishes can be added to the wet chocolate before setting.
These truffles make convenient finger desserts suitable for parties or gifting. Proper chilling and the use of room temperature cream cheese help with smooth handling and a rich mouthfeel. The recipe accommodates different chocolate types for coating without altering the core technique.
Ingredients
Truffles
- 18 Oreo cookies
- 4 ounces cream cheese softened at room temperature
Coating
- 12 ounces chocolate chips
- Sprinkles or other garnish
Instructions
Truffles
- Remove the cream from the Oreos.
- Place the cream cheese, Oreo cookies, and Oreo filling in a food processor.
- Pulse until everything is well combined. It’ll be a thick spoonable mixture that shouldn’t have any large chunks.
- Roll mixture into 1" balls. Use a 1 tablespoon cookie scoop to ensure they are all the same size.
- Place balls either in a bowl or on a baking sheet and put the truffles into the fridge to chill for 10 minutes.
Coating
- Melt chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until completely melted. Or double boil chocolate.
- Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate. Let excess drip off, then place on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
- While chocolate is still wet, add sprinkles or other garnish as desired.
- Allow chocolate to set completely before serving.
- Enjoy!
Notes
- Let cream cheese reach room temperature before mixing for easier blending.
- Any type of chocolate chips can be used for coating, such as milk, dark, white, or semi-sweet.
- Use a cookie scoop to keep truffle sizes uniform.
- Chill truffles in the fridge to help the coating set faster and keep the filling firm.
- Shake off excess chocolate after dipping to avoid clumps and extend coating coverage.
- Store truffles in the refrigerator since the filling contains cream cheese.
