Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar divided
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 cups peach about 1/4-inch thick, peeled slices
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F.
  2. Add melted butter to a 13- x 9-inch baking dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt together until combined.
  4. Stir in milk just until combined.
  5. Pour batter over butter, but do NOT stir.
  6. Set aside.
  7. Bring remaining 1/2 cup sugar, peach slices, and lemon juice to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly.
  8. Remove from heat.
  9. Pour peach mixture over batter, but do NOT stir.
  10. Sprinkle cinnamon over the peaches.
  11. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • If you prefer a less sweet cobbler, you can reduce the sugar in the peach portion to 1/4 cup. If you have very sweet peaches, you may decide to omit the sugar in that portion. However, do not omit the sugar in the cobbler portion.
  • Any milk from whole milk to skim milk will work.
