Easy Pecan Pie Recipe
Description
The Easy Pecan Pie recipe layers a deep dish pie crust with a mix of pecans and dark chocolate chips before pouring a warm filling made from melted butter, brown sugar, agave syrup, vanilla extract, salt, and beaten eggs. The filling bakes in the oven until it sets fully, approximately 50 to 60 minutes, resulting in a custard-like consistency holding the pecans and chocolate together. The crust is blind-baked before filling to ensure it remains firm and flaky.
This pie offers a combination of nutty crunch, chocolate richness, and sweet, buttery filling with the subtleness of agave syrup. It can be served slightly warm with vanilla ice cream for contrast or cooled to room temperature to slice cleanly. Leftovers should be stored covered in the refrigerator.
The recipe is straightforward to prepare and offers a classic pecan pie experience with a hint of chocolate for added interest. The use of agave syrup offers an alternative to traditional corn syrup or molasses-based sweeteners.
Ingredients
- 6 tbsp butter
- 1 1/4 cup brown sugar light or dark, packed
- 2 tsp vanilla extract pure
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup agave syrup I use Agave In The Raw, another option would be pure maple syrup
- 2 egg room temperature, large
- 2 cups pecans
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 " pie crust homemade or store bought, partially blind baked, deep dish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Pour pecans and chocolate chips into prepared pie crust and spread out. Place pie plate with crust, chocolate chips and pecans onto a baking sheet and set aside.
- In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, melt your butter. Once butter is melted, add brown sugar and stir until mixture is well combined. Remove from heat. Add in your vanilla, salt and Agave In The Raw, stirring until well combined. In a separate large bowl, gently beat the eggs. Add mixture in the saucepan to the egg mixture, stir to combine the two mixtures. Pour mixture over pecans in pie crust.
- Place pie plate (on baking sheet) into oven and bake until the filling is set, approximately 50-60 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool for at least one hour prior to serving. Store tightly covered.
Notes
- Serve the pecan pie slightly warm, topped with vanilla ice cream for a classic combination.
- Store any leftovers covered in the refrigerator to keep the pie fresh.
