Easy Pumpkin Mousse

Easy Pumpkin Mousse blends spiced instant vanilla pudding mix with pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and vanilla extract for a creamy, lightly sweet dessert with autumnal flavors. Whipped heavy cream folded into the mixture adds airiness and soft texture, finished with a garnish of cinnamon and optional candy pumpkins for seasonal appeal.

Description

This pumpkin mousse starts by combining dry ingredients of vanilla pudding mix with warming spices—cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves—and kosher salt to balance flavors. Milk is beaten in to activate the pudding, then pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and vanilla extract provide moisture, sweetness, and depth.

Separately whipped heavy cream is folded partially into the pumpkin mixture to lighten it and create the mousse texture, reserving some whipped cream for topping. The mousse is spooned into serving glasses and garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon and candy pumpkins, providing a festive finish.

The dessert is straightforward to prepare with familiar pantry ingredients and suitable for seasonal occasions or as a make-ahead treat. Its smooth, airy texture contrasts the natural pumpkin earthiness with sweet spices and maple notes.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 instant vanilla pudding 3.4-oz. package
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon plus more for garnish
  • Pinch cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 pumpkin puree 15-oz. can
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk whole
  • 1 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients: pudding mix, with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  2. Next, add the milk and beat to combine.
  3. Add pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.

  6. Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon and candy pumpkin before serving.
