Easy Ravioli Lasagna
Description
This dish combines layers of frozen cheese ravioli with marinara sauce and generous amounts of shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese. The layering is done directly in a baking dish that has been sprayed to prevent sticking. After covering with foil, the dish bakes at a high temperature for 30 minutes, then uncovered for an additional 15 minutes, allowing the cheese to fully melt and the sauce to bubble.
The result is a hot, cheesy, saucy casserole with tender ravioli, making it a straightforward and hearty meal. The use of frozen ravioli eliminates the need for pre-cooking pasta sheets, simplifying preparation.
The lasagna can be garnished with fresh chopped basil for added aroma and subtle flavor. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 4 days or frozen up to 2 months. Reheating can be done in the oven or microwave after thawing.
Ingredients
- 2 (25 oz) marinara sauce jars
- 40 oz cheese ravioli or beef or spinach cheese, frozen
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese freshly grated
- 1/3 cup basil leaves for garnish, optional, fresh chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.
- Spread half of a jar of marinara sauce evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Add half of the ravioli in an even layer over the sauce.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese over the sauce. Top with another layer of sauce, remaining ravioli, remaining sauce, and 1 cup mozzarella and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.
- Spray a piece of aluminum foil with cooking spray. Cover the dish with aluminum foil, sprayed side down. Bake the lasagna for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the sauce is bubbly. Remove pan from oven let sit for 5 minutes. Garnish with basil, if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- Frozen ravioli can be used directly without thawing or pre-cooking for convenience.
- Allow the baked lasagna to cool completely before storing it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
- When freezing, wrap the dish tightly or portion into containers and freeze for up to 2 months; thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.
- Reheat in the oven or microwave until warmed through.
