Easy Roasted Turkey Legs
Description
Easy Roasted Turkey Legs feature whole turkey legs seasoned with a mixture of melted butter, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. The legs are pat-dried before applying the butter mixture to ensure crispy skin. The roasting process involves cooking the legs skin side down first, then flipping skin side up to brown for a final period, which promotes even cooking and a golden crust.
The turkey legs develop a rich buttery flavor with savory garlic notes complementing the natural taste of the meat. Slow roasting keeps the meat moist while allowing the skin to crisp up nicely.
This dish can be served as a filling entree alongside side dishes like roasted vegetables or potatoes. It yields about two large turkey legs weighing four to five pounds total.
Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness at an internal temperature of 170°F for safe and optimal results. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to five days or frozen for three months in airtight containers.
