Easy & Simple Apple Cinnamon Wontons
Description
The Easy & Simple Apple Cinnamon Wontons recipe uses finely diced apples combined with ground cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and cornstarch to create a lightly thickened filling. The use of cornstarch helps absorb juices released by the apples while baking, preventing sogginess. The mixture is wrapped in square wonton wrappers folded into triangles and sealed with water.
This recipe employs baking rather than frying, placing wontons on parchment-lined sheets brushed with milk and lightly sprayed with oil for browning. The moderate oven temperature allows the wrappers to crisp up gently while the apple filling softens, maintaining a balance between texture and flavor. No flipping is required during baking.
Once out of the oven, the wontons can be enjoyed warm as a finger-friendly dessert or snack. The blend of honeycrisp, gala, or similar apples creates a tart-sweet profile enhanced by warm baking spices. This preparation offers a different way to enjoy seasonal apples wrapped in portable parcels.
