Easy & Simple Asian Sesame Smashed Potatoes

This recipe features tender baby potatoes that are parboiled and then smashed flat before being coated with a glaze of soy sauce, maple syrup, and sesame oil. Baking the potatoes twice creates a crispy exterior while keeping the inside soft, with garnishes of green onion and sesame seeds adding fresh and nutty flavors. It's a flavorful side dish with an inviting texture and Asian-inspired seasoning.

Description

Easy & Simple Asian Sesame Smashed Potatoes start with baby potatoes parboiled until fork tender, then gently smashed to flatten. The potatoes are brushed generously with a mix of soy sauce, maple syrup, and sesame oil, which imbues a balance of salty, sweet, and nutty notes. After an initial baking period, they are basted again to enhance flavor and texture, then baked further to develop a crisp, caramelized crust while the centers remain tender.

The garnish of finely chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds adds a fresh, aromatic finish. These potatoes make a satisfying side that pairs well with a variety of meals needing a touch of Asian seasoning or simply a tasty vegetable side.
