Easy Vegan Gluten Free Apple Crisp Crumble
Description
Easy Vegan Gluten Free Apple Crisp Crumble starts by preparing thin slices of peeled, cored apples mixed with coconut sugar, almond flour, tapioca starch, cinnamon, and fresh lemon juice to prevent browning and add brightness. This spiced apple filling is spread evenly in a greased pie plate.
The topping blends rolled gluten-free oats, almond flour, tapioca starch, roughly chopped slivered almonds, coconut sugar, salt, and melted coconut oil. Mixing by hand yields a crumbly texture with some larger pieces to maintain contrast.
Baking at 350°F for about 50 to 60 minutes softens the apples into a tender, bubbly filling and crisps the topping to a golden brown. Cooling slightly before serving allows the crumble to set. This dessert pairs well with dairy-free ice cream for added richness.
The recipe notes suggest tapioca starch can likely be substituted with cornstarch based on experience with other recipes, though it has not been tested here.

- The topping should remain crumbly with some large pieces to provide texture contrast.
- Coconut sugar is used to sweeten both the apples and topping, providing a caramel-like flavor.
- Tapioca starch stabilizes the filling; cornstarch may be used as a substitute though it has not been tested with this recipe.
- Allow the crisp to cool 10-20 minutes before serving to set properly.
- Serve with dairy-free ice cream for a complementary vegan dessert experience.
