Edible Brownie Batter
Description
This edible brownie batter starts with baking flour briefly to make it safe for consumption without cooking the entire batter. Melted coconut oil and sugar are mixed, followed by adding heat-treated flour, cocoa powder, maple syrup, and milk, forming a thick batter. Dark chocolate chips are folded in for texture and richness. The batter is served fresh without baking.
The resulting mixture has a thick, creamy consistency reminiscent of traditional brownie batter but is designed for safe raw consumption thanks to the heat-treated flour. The coconut oil imparts a mild richness, while cocoa powder delivers chocolate flavor. The chocolate chips provide a pleasant contrast with their melt-in-your-mouth quality.
Use your favorite type of chocolate chips; vegan options are suitable for dairy-free diets. The batter is best eaten fresh and can be refrigerated for up to three days, but it firms up when chilled, so bring to room temperature before enjoying. It is not recommended to bake this batter.
Ingredients
- ½ cup all-purpose flour or all purpose flour, gluten free 1 to 1
- ⅓ cup coconut oil melted
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp milk of choice
- ¼ cup dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- First, heat treat flour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line baking pan with parchment paper.
- Spread flour onto lined pan. Bake for 5 minutes. Then remove from oven.
- In a mixing bowl, add melted coconut oil and sugar. Stir to combine.
- Next, add in heat treated flour and all remaining ingredients except chocolate chips. Stir to combine.

Notes
- Use preferred chocolate chips; vegan chocolate chips can be used for dairy-free options.
- Butter can replace coconut oil if dairy is acceptable.
- Either gluten-free 1-to-1 flour or all-purpose flour works but ensure heat treatment of the flour for safety.
- Any type of milk can be used according to preference.
- Best consumed fresh, but leftovers can be refrigerated up to three days; allow to warm to room temperature before eating.
- This batter is not intended to be baked.
