Eggnog Pie
Description
Eggnog Pie involves preparing a refrigerated or frozen pie shell first by baking and cooling it thoroughly. The filling combines vanilla pudding mix with eggnog and milk instead of the typical milk alone. Rum and ground nutmeg are added to give the filling a warm, spiced flavor reminiscent of traditional eggnog.
Once mixed, the filling is poured into the cooled crust and covered with plastic wrap that touches the filling surface to prevent a skin from forming. The pie is refrigerated for several hours to fully set, resulting in a creamy, custard-like texture.
Just before serving, the pie is garnished with whipped cream and a dusting of nutmeg, complementing the smooth, spiced custard. This dessert suits holiday or winter gatherings and appeals to those who enjoy eggnog-flavored treats.
