Description

This recipe begins by melting butter with milk and cream cheese to create a creamy base. Fettuccine pasta is cooked al dente in salted boiling water, then drained with some pasta water reserved. Tossing the pasta in the sauce and gradually adding reserved pasta water adjusts the sauce consistency, allowing it to cling evenly to the noodles and prevent dryness.

  • 1 lb Fettuccine pasta

Alfredo Sauce

  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 2 garlic minced, cloves
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper optional
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese (grated )

Garnish

  • parsley fresh chopped

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan add butter, milk and cream cheese. Cook over medium heat and whisk until melted.
  2. Add the minced garlic, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Continue to whisk until smooth. Add the grated Parmesan cheese.
  3. Bring to a simmer and continue to cook for about 5-10 minutes or until it starts to thicken.
  4. Bring a large pot of water to a boil with a generous spoonful of salt added in. Once the water boils add in the pasta and cook according to package directions, or until al dente.
  5. Before draining the pasta reserve 1 cup of pasta water.
  6. Drain the pasta. Toss the pasta with the sauce. Gradually add in a splash of pasta water until your desired sauce consistency is reached. The pasta water will help thicken the sauce and the sauce will cling to the pasta.
  7. Serve garnished with fresh chopped parsley and enjoy!
