Fig Tart with Walnuts

The Fig Tart with Walnuts features a tender almond flour-based crust enhanced with cinnamon and orange zest, creating a fragrant and nutty foundation. Fresh fig halves are embedded into the batter before baking, where they soften and caramelize along with a sugar sprinkle. Chopped walnuts fold into the batter, adding crunch and earthiness. The result is a golden tart with a balance of sweet fig juiciness and subtle spice.

Description

This Fig Tart uses almond flour combined with sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt to form the dry ingredients, while eggs, melted butter, honey, orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla create a flavorful wet batter. The chopped walnuts mixed in provide a textural contrast. The batter is poured into a greased tart pan and topped with halved figs arranged so their tops remain exposed. A sprinkle of granulated sugar over the figs promotes caramelization during baking.

Baked at 375°F for 25-30 minutes, the tart develops a golden exterior and a moist, tender crumb that holds the figs and nuts harmoniously. The orange elements brighten the flavor profile and complement the natural sweetness of the figs. This tart combines nutty, fruity, and lightly spiced notes for a subtly complex dessert or breakfast treat.

Allowing the tart to cool before unmolding and slicing ensures a neat presentation. It can be served plain or with a light dusting of powdered sugar if desired. The natural sweetness and the blend of textures make it a refined yet approachable dish.
