Five Spice Pulled Pork

Five Spice Pulled Pork is a slow-roasted pork dish marinated with a blend of Chinese five-spice powder, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, and rice wine vinegar. The pork becomes tender enough to shred and is served piled high on buns with coleslaw, combining sweet, savory, and aromatic Asian-inspired flavors in a classic pulled pork sandwich format.

Description

This recipe involves marinating pork in a mixture containing five-spice powder, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, and Shaoxing rice wine vinegar, which infuses bold Asian flavors. After marinating for 30 minutes or overnight, the pork is roasted uncovered at a high temperature to start, then covered and cooked slowly at a low temperature for several hours until tender enough to shred.

The slow roasting allows the pork to absorb the marinade flavors deeply while breaking down connective tissues, resulting in a moist, flavorful pulled texture. The shredded pork is then served inside buns with plenty of juicy coleslaw, providing a crunchy and fresh contrast to the rich meat. This makes for an indulgent yet balanced meal suitable for feeding several people.
