Freezer Friendly Garlic Bread
Description
Freezer Friendly Garlic Bread starts with slicing a loaf of French bread lengthwise and applying a butter mixture seasoned with garlic powder, parsley flakes, and salt. This mixture provides a garlicky herb flavor spread uniformly inside the bread halves. For immediate use, the bread is cut into large chunks and baked at a moderate temperature until golden and crispy. For freezing, the halves are frozen separately with butter side up before wrapping tightly to preserve freshness and protect from freezer burn.
The recipe allows flexibility with garlic type, offering an option to substitute garlic powder with minced fresh garlic for a stronger garlic presence. Dried parsley flakes add color and a mild herbaceous note, which can be varied with other herbs like basil or thyme. The recipe also suggests possibilities for vegan versions using plant-based butter and adaptations for low-sodium diets.
Garlic bread made this way can be reheated from frozen, retaining its flavor and texture, and can be enjoyed as a side, snack, or appetizer. Additional toppings such as grated cheeses or red pepper flakes can modify the flavor profile when baking.
Fresh garlic (5-6 cloves, minced) can replace garlic powder for stronger flavor.Plant-based butter and vegan bread can make this recipe suitable for vegans.Omitting salt and using unsalted butter reduces sodium for low-sodium needs.Substitute dried parsley with basil, thyme, or Italian herbs for different tastes.Add grated Parmesan or mozzarella before baking for cheesy garlic bread.Red pepper flakes incorporated into the butter mixture add spiciness.Cutting bread into sticks before adding garlic butter offers a different presentation.
