French Silk Pie
Description
French Silk Pie starts with a baked and cooled pie crust as the base. The filling combines softened butter and sugar whipped until smooth, to which melted unsweetened chocolate is added. Pasteurized eggs are incorporated one at a time, then beaten extensively to create a light, mousse-like consistency. Folding in Cool Whip adds volume and creaminess.
Once the filling is placed in the crust, the pie is chilled for at least six hours, allowing it to firm up while maintaining a creamy texture. Just before serving, the remaining whipped topping is spread on top with decorative chocolate curls. The filling has a rich, bittersweet chocolate taste balanced by the creamy whipped topping and a crisp crust exterior.
French Silk Pie is best served cold as a decadent dessert after meals. It keeps in the refrigerator for up to a week, though the crust will soften over time. Freezing is possible for up to three months if wrapped tightly. To thaw, refrigerate the pie overnight and add toppings just before serving for the freshest texture.
