Fried Twinkies

Fried Twinkies are Twinkie cakes dipped in a pancake batter then deep-fried until golden brown and crispy on the outside while remaining soft inside. The fried treats are dusted with powdered sugar and optionally served with raspberry or chocolate dipping sauce for extra sweetness. This dessert offers a decadent, warm, and crispy exterior contrasting with the familiar creamy Twinkie interior.

Description

The recipe begins by heating vegetable oil for deep frying to 350°F. The batter is made by combining pancake mix, egg, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth. Each Twinkie is dipped into this batter to form a coating that crisps during frying.

Twinkies are then fried in batches, turning occasionally to brown evenly until the exterior is a deep golden color, which typically takes 3 to 4 minutes. After frying, they are drained on paper towels to remove excess oil. A light dusting of powdered sugar adds a sweet finishing touch, and an optional raspberry or chocolate sauce provides a complementary dip.

This preparation transforms the soft, sweet Twinkie into a warm, crispy treat that contrasts textures and temperatures for a rich dessert experience. It is best served immediately after frying to enjoy the crisp exterior before it softens.
