Frito Bars
Description
These Frito Bars start by coating Fritos corn chips in a hot syrup made from boiling sugar and light corn syrup, then mixing in creamy peanut butter and vanilla. The combination creates a rich, sweet, and salty coating that clings to the crunchy chips. The mixture is layered in a baking pan with mini chocolate chips sprinkled on top and in the middle, adding chocolate flavor in every bite.
Once cooled and set, the bars hold together firmly with a satisfying contrast of crispy and chewy textures. They can be sliced into bars for easy serving and are convenient for casual snacks or dessert. Variations are possible, such as swapping creamy for crunchy peanut butter or using different types of chocolate candies.
These bars store well covered at room temperature for several days, can be refrigerated up to a week, or frozen for extended storage, making them a flexible homemade treat.
