From Scratch Cherry Delight
Description
From Scratch Cherry Delight combines three main components: a baked graham cracker crust, a rich cream layer, and a cooked cherry topping. The crust is made from finely crushed graham crackers mixed with melted butter and sugar, then baked until lightly golden to form a sturdy base. A blend of whipped heavy cream and sweetened cream cheese creates a creamy, fluffy filling spread atop the cooled crust and chilled to set.
The cherry topping is prepared by simmering pitted cherries with sugar, water, lemon juice, and cornstarch until thickened, creating a glossy fruit glaze. This layer is spooned evenly over the chilled cream layer. The dessert is best served chilled to maintain its layered texture and fresh flavor.
The assembled dessert combines crunchy crust, velvety cream, and bright cherry topping, suitable for holidays or any occasion involving a chilled fruit and cream dessert. The recipe uses basic ingredients and straightforward steps, making it accessible for home cooks willing to prepare a distinctive cherry dessert from scratch.
