Fruit Salsa
Description
Fruit Salsa combines a variety of fresh fruits—kiwi, apple, pineapple, strawberries, and peach—each chopped into bite-sized pieces. The apples are coated with lemon juice to prevent browning and maintain a bright appearance. The mixture is gently folded with strawberry preserves, which adds sweetness and helps bind the fruit together.
The texture is varied, with soft, juicy berries and firmer apple chunks, making each bite interesting. The preserves also enhance the natural fruit flavors and provide a syrupy consistency that coats the salsa lightly. Chilling the salsa before serving lets the flavors meld and refreshes the palate.
This fruit salsa pairs well with homemade cinnamon sugar tortilla chips, adding a contrasting crunchy and spiced flavor element. It can serve as a light dessert, snack, or even a topping for breakfast items like pancakes or yogurt.
Variations include substituting the peach with nectarines, mango, or orange segments, and using different fruit preserves like raspberry. Slight warming of the preserves before combining helps with easy mixing.
