Fruity Pebble Treats

Report
Fruity Pebble Treats are a colorful variation of the classic marshmallow rice krispie treat using Fruity Pebbles cereal. The melted butter and mini marshmallows bind the cereal into chewy, sweet bars that hold together well. These treats offer a nostalgic taste with a bright cereal flavor and soft, sticky texture.

Description

This recipe melts butter and mini marshmallows together to form a sticky mixture that binds five cups of Fruity Pebbles cereal. The mixture is pressed into a nonstick prepared pan and cooled to set. The cereal remains crisp yet tender when combined with the marshmallow coating, offering a chewy texture with bursts of fruity flavor.

The method involves heating the marshmallows and butter in short intervals, stirring until smooth, then mixing in the cereal quickly before pressing into the pan. Cooling at room temperature preserves the chewy consistency. Cutting into bars once completely set finishes the process.

The treats are best stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Refrigeration is not recommended as it can dry the treats out, diminishing their signature gooey texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 5 cups Fruity Pebbles
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 10 oz. mini marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Spray an 8X8 baking pan with non-stick cooking spary.
  2. Place the butter and marshmallows in a microwave safe dish. Heat in 30 second intervals, stirring after each interval until melted and combined.
  3. Mix the fruity pebbles into the melted marshmallows and butter.
  4. Pour into the prepared pan. Press quickly into the pan. I like to take a piece of waxed paper and use it to press the fruity pebbles rice krispie treats into the pan so that my hands won't get sticky.
  5. Allow to cool completely at room temperature.
  6. Cut into bars and serve.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week to keep them soft and chewy.
  • Avoid refrigerating as it dries out the treats.
