Fudgy Brownie Recipe

This fudge-style brownie recipe uses melted butter, a mix of granulated and brown sugars, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, and eggs to create a dense, moist texture with a rich chocolate flavor. The brownies bake in an 8x8 pan and are slightly fudgy with soft edges when baked to the specified doneness.

Description

The Fudgy Brownie Recipe starts by combining melted butter with both granulated and brown sugars, whipped together until smooth. Eggs and vanilla are incorporated next, followed by melted chocolate chips that add deep chocolate intensity. Dry ingredients including flour, cocoa powder, and salt are sifted in and folded in carefully to retain moisture and structure.

Baked in a greased 8x8 inch pan at 350°F, the brownies are done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs, indicating a fudgy center with soft edges. The use of both cocoa powder and melted chocolate chips imparts a layered chocolate taste and slightly chewy texture.

The resulting brownies are rich and dense, with a balance between sweetness and bittersweet chocolate flavor, suitable as a snack or dessert.

This recipe is for personal or educational use and the author suggests pulling the brownies a bit early for a softer, fudgier bite.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 tbsp butter unsalted
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar light or dark
  • 2 egg
  • 8 oz (about 1 cup) chocolate chips can also use chocolate block
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Put the melted butter in a bowl with the granulated sugar and the brown sugar. Use an electric hand mixer to combine.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix to combine.
  4. Put your chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20 second increments, mixing between each round. Microwave until fully melted, normally 3-4 rounds in total.
  5. Add the melted chocolate into the butter/sugar combination. Use a rubber spatula to combine.
  6. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Use your rubber spatula to mix until combined.
  7. Grease an 8x8 glass pan with nonstick spray.
  8. Cook for about 45 minutes depending on desired doneness. Your brownies are done when a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. I like my brownies slightly fudgy without hard edges, so I normally take them out when there's still a teeny amount of batter on the toothpick ;)

Notes

  • Check doneness with a toothpick; a slight batter residue indicates fudgy brownies without hard edges.
  • Use unsalted butter and quality chocolate chips for best flavor control.
