Game Day Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Ball

This cheesecake ball blends softened cream cheese, butter, vanilla, and sugars to create a creamy and lightly sweetened base studded with mini chocolate chips. It is shaped into a ball or football form and chilled before serving. The exterior is decorated with additional chocolate chips and white chocolate accents to mimic football laces, making it a festive appetizer or dessert when spread on crackers or pretzels.

Description

The Game Day Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Ball combines cream cheese, butter, vanilla, powdered sugar, and brown sugar to form a rich, smooth, and creamy mixture. Mini chocolate chips are folded into the batter, giving bursts of chocolate throughout. After thorough chilling, the cheesecake mixture firms up for easy shaping into a ball or a football shape.

Decorated with extra mini chocolate chips and white chocolate chips for laces, this cheesecake ball adds a thematic touch suitable for game day gatherings. It pairs well with vanilla wafers, graham crackers, and pretzels for spreading, blending sweet and salty flavors and contrasting textures.

The preparation involves refrigerating the mixture twice to ensure firmness for shaping and making the decoration stick nicely.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cream cheese 8 oz package, softened
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 TB brown sugar
  • 1 mini chocolate chips package
  • white chocolate chip small handful
  • graham crackers vanilla wafers, and pretzels for serving

Instructions

  1. Beat cream cheese, butter, and vanilla in a medium sized bowl until fluffy. Add sugar and beat until combined. Stir in 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips. Cover and refrigerate for two hours.
  2. If making a football shaped cheesecake ball, line the inside of the bowl of your choice with plastic wrap then fill with mixture. Cover the top with plastic wrap. If you are not using a bowl, simply place the mixture on a large piece of plastic wrap and shape into a ball. Refrigerate for a least an hour.
  3. To decorate and serve, remove plastic wrap from the top of bowl and invert cheesecake ball onto serving platter. Remove remaining plastic wrap. If you are not using a bowl, remove plastic wrap and serve as a ball, or use your hands to make into football shape.
  4. Decorate by covering cheesecake ball with remaining mini chocolate chips. To add accents to resemble "football laces," add in white chocolate chips to the center and top sides.
  5. Serve with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, and pretzels.
