  • 1 Tbsp basil dried
  • 1 Tbsp oregano dried
  • 1 Tbsp parsley dried
  • 2 tsp black pepper if using fine ground, use less, coarse
  • 1 1/2 tsp onion dried minced
  • 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp thyme dried
  • 1/2 tsp rosemary dried

To serve

  • 3 cloves garlic pressed or very finely minced
  • Parmesan Cheese grated, sprinkle
  • 1/3 - 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil or more or less, it's up to you

Instructions

Combine seasonings

  1. Combine dried basil, dried oregano, dried parsley, black pepper, dried minced onion, kosher salt, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, dried thyme, and dried rosemary in a small mixing bowl and stir to mix well.
  2. Transfer mixture to spice jar, or other airtight container, and store for up to 6 months.

To serve

  1. Add a small drizzle of olive oil to a small skillet and heat over MED LOW heat. Add minced or pressed garlic and cook, stirring often, for several minutes, or until lightly golden and soft - be careful not to walk away as it can burn if left unattended for a long time.
  2. Add cooked garlic to a small plate or shallow bowl, then top with about 1 Tbsp of the spice mix and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Add about 1/3 - 1/2 cup olive oil and stir well to combine.
  3. Serve with crusty bread and enjoy!

Notes

  • The seasoning blend yields approximately 6 tablespoons total, sufficient for six 1-tablespoon servings.
  • Onion powder can replace dried minced onion; use half the amount, about 3/4 teaspoon.
  • Carefully heat garlic in olive oil on medium-low to avoid burning and bitterness.
