Garlic Bread
Description
This Garlic Bread recipe uses a loaf of French bread cut lengthwise. A mixture of softened butter, minced garlic, and fresh parsley is spread on the cut sides of the bread. Baking at 350°F softens the bread and melts the butter mixture into the surface. After 10 minutes, switching to broil crisps and browns the top, creating a golden crust with roasted garlic flavor.
The garlic and parsley enrich the bread with savory herbal notes. The final bread has a contrast of tender interior and flavorful toasted top. This garlic bread pairs well with pasta dishes, soups, or as an appetizer.
Tips include keeping the bread warm in a low oven or wrapped in foil until serving. Adding cheese like mozzarella or Parmesan before baking adds richness. Dried herbs can substitute fresh parsley if needed. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for a few days but are best enjoyed fresh and warm.
Ingredients
- 16 oz French bread about 1 loaf, cut in half lengthwise
- ½ c. butter softened
- 4 garlic minced, cloves
- 2 Tbsp parsley fresh, minced
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a small bowl combine butter and garlic. Spread over the cut sides of the French bread. Then sprinkle parsley over the top.
- Place, cut side up, on a baking sheet.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
- After baking time is done, turn the oven to broil and broil on high 2-3 minutes about 4-6 inches away from heat or until golden brown.
Notes
- Keep the bread warm by leaving it in a low oven or wrapped in foil until ready to serve.
- Add cheese such as mozzarella, provolone, or grated Parmesan before baking for a cheesy variation.
- Dry herbs like parsley, thyme, or Italian seasoning can replace fresh parsley if unavailable; mix into the butter or sprinkle on top.
- Store leftover garlic bread in the refrigerator and consume within a few days for best quality.
