Garlic Mussels In Sour Cream Sauce

Garlic Mussels in Sour Cream Sauce features shelled mussels cooked with minced onion and garlic in olive oil, then finished with a tangy sour cream sauce. The gentle sauteing method keeps the mussels tender and allows the creamy sauce to lightly coat them. Parsley adds fresh color and a mild herbaceous touch. This preparation uses simple ingredients to create a rich and comforting seafood dish suitable as a starter or light main course.

Description

This recipe starts by gently cooking onion in olive oil until softened, creating a flavorful base. Shelled mussels are then added and briefly cooked to maintain their tender texture without becoming rubbery. Garlic and sour cream are stirred in near the end to infuse the dish with aromatic and creamy notes. Seasoning with salt and black pepper balances the richness while parsley adds brightness.

The resulting dish offers a creamy sauce that lightly coats the tender mussels, preserving their delicate flavor. There is no heavy cream, so the sour cream provides a slightly tangy richness instead. Cooking time is short, preventing overcooking seafood and maintaining pleasant textures.

Garlic Mussels in Sour Cream Sauce can be served as an appetizer or paired with crusty bread to soak up the sauce, making it a straightforward yet flavorful seafood option. Its moderate seasoning and simple method make it accessible for home cooks looking to prepare mussels without complicated steps or ingredients.
