Ginger Rice Recipe
Description
Ginger Rice blends jasmine rice with grated ginger and minced garlic cooked together with butter, salt, and pepper in water. The rice is rinsed first to remove excess starch, producing a light, fluffy texture. Cooking is done by boiling briefly then simmering low, covered, until the liquid absorbs fully and the rice is tender.
The ginger imparts a mild spiciness and aromatic quality without overpowering, complemented by the mellow garlic and butter richness. Topping the rice with fresh scallions delivers a gentle onion flavor and a color contrast. This fragrant rice variant pairs well with dishes needing a slightly seasoned but simple starch base.
Substituting brown rice is possible, though it requires longer cooking time due to its tougher grains. The rice can be served alongside stir-fries, stews, or grilled proteins.
