Gingerdoodles

Gingerdoodles are soft cookies combining butter, sugars, maple syrup, and warm spices like cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. The dough is rolled in a cinnamon-sugar blend before baking, yielding a tender cookie with a slightly crisp, spiced crust. These cookies offer a comforting maple sweetness balanced with aromatic spices, ideal for a cozy snack or holiday treat. Baking at a moderate temperature ensures even cooking and delicate texture.

Description

The Gingerdoodles recipe balances softened butter with both white and brown sugar, enriched by an egg and maple syrup, which lends a subtle depth of flavor and moisture. The dry ingredients include all-purpose flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, salt, and a blend of ground cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. This combination produces a cookie that is flavorful without overpowering spice. After shaping dough balls and coating them in cinnamon sugar, baking at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes allows edges to just brown, providing a pleasant contrast between the soft interior and the sugary exterior.

The cookies can be enjoyed on their own alongside tea or coffee. Their texture and spice profile make them suitable for gifting or serving at seasonal gatherings. The use of maple syrup instead of molasses or additional spices distinguishes them from other ginger cookies, giving a unique sweetness and aroma.
