Golden Green Goddess Margaritas

Golden Green Goddess Margaritas combine fresh cucumber juice, Grand Marnier, tequila, and lime juice shaken with simple syrup, then poured over ice with a salted rim. Garnished with lime slices and edible gold leaf, this cocktail balances refreshing cucumber coolness with citrus and spirituous warmth, offering a crisp and visually elegant variation on the classic margarita.

Description

The cocktail begins with fresh cucumber juice, prepared by juicing or blending and straining a seedless cucumber. This fresh juice is shaken with Grand Marnier, tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup to create a balanced mixture of cooling vegetal notes, citrus tartness, underlying sweetness, and spirit complexity. A salted rim contrasts the flavors and adds flavor dimension.

Serving over crushed ice keeps the drink chilled and refreshing but slightly diluted as the ice melts, balancing the cocktail's strength. The lime slices enhance the presentation and add additional aroma. A few pieces of edible gold leaf on top provide a decorative touch without altering flavor.

This margarita variation suits occasions where a visually distinctive, fresh, and slightly herbal cocktail is desired. The preparation requires access to fresh cucumber juice, so it works best made fresh. The flavor profile is crisp and light with a subtle sweetness and bright acidity, making it an interesting twist on traditional margaritas.

Servings
  • 3 ounces cucumber juice fresh
  • 2 ounces Grand Marnier
  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila
  • 2 ounces lime juice fresh
  • 1 1/2 ounces simple syrup
  • lime slices and wedges for garnish

  • Gold leaf edible, for garnish

Instructions

  1. To make the cucumber juice, I either juice or blend (and then strain once blended) a long seedless cucumber.
  2. Place the coarse salt on a plate. Rim each glass with a lime wedge and dip the rim in the salt. Fill the glass with crushed ice.
  3. In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine the cucumber juice, grand marnier, tequila, lime juice and simple syrup. Shake for at least 30 seconds, then pour over the crushed ice. Garnish with lime slices and add a few pieces of edible gold leaf for fun!
