Golden Oreo Crust

The Golden Oreo Crust blends finely crushed golden Oreos with melted unsalted butter to create a firm, flavorful base. Pressed into a pan, it forms a crisp sweet crust suitable for no-bake or baked desserts, including cheesecakes and pies. Chilling allows the crust to set and provides structure for slicing once the filling is added.

Description

This crust uses golden Oreo cookies crushed into fine crumbs mixed thoroughly with melted butter to create a moist crumb that holds together when pressed firmly into the base and sides of a pan. Its sweet vanilla notes and crisp texture offer a distinctive alternative to traditional graham cracker crusts. The recipe adapts well for different pan types, including springform, pie dishes, or tart shells.

After pressing into the desired shape, chilling the crust helps it to firm up before adding fillings. If the recipe calls for baking the crust in a filled dessert, chilling after baking stabilizes the structure for easier slicing and serving. The crumb-to-butter ratio allows enough moisture for binding without sogginess, resulting in a sturdy crust.

This crust is ideal for use in desserts that showcase a creamy or fruity filling, adding a subtle sweetness and crunchy contrast. Adjusting thickness and height depends on personal preference and pan size.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 28 golden Oreos crushed or ground to fine crumb
  • 5 tablespoon butter melted, unsalted

Instructions

  1. Place the finely ground golden Oreos in a large mixing bowl and pour the melted butter in. Stir with a spatula until well mixed into a lightly moist crumb.
  2. Pour the mixture into your prepared dish (either a lined springform pan, pie plate or tart shell) and press firmly into the base and up the sides (see note).
  3. Once firmly pressed, this Golden Oreo crust can be used for baked or no bake cheesecakes or pies as directed in your filling recipe. I recommend chilling the crust while you prepare the filling. After filled (and baked if necessary), it is best to chill for at least 2 hours (or longer if needed for the filling) before serving, to ensure that the crust is set well for slicing.

Notes

  • The crust thickness depends on the size of the pan and personal preference; for a 9-inch springform pan, this quantity typically yields a 1-inch-high crust along the base and sides.
