Gooey Monster Cookie Recipe
Description
This cookie recipe uses white cake mix as a base mixed with softened butter, cream cheese, egg, and vanilla, resulting in a soft, gooey dough. After dividing and coloring the batter with bright food coloring, the dough is chilled briefly, rolled into balls, coated in powdered sugar, and baked. The addition of candy eyeballs while cookies are warm gives a whimsical monster appearance.
These cookies shine through their tender and moist crumb, enhanced by the cream cheese lending a slight tang and richness. The powdered sugar coating adds a light sweetness and subtle texture on the outside.
The timing of chilling the dough and adding eyeballs after baking helps maintain the cookies' soft texture and playful look. Baking for 10–12 minutes at 350°F allows the cookies to set without drying out.
