Greek Chicken Souvlaki

Greek Chicken Souvlaki offers marinated chicken breast chunks grilled on skewers, served alongside a tangy Greek yogurt sauce and a fresh tomato cucumber olive relish. The marinade blends lemon, olive oil, honey, and herbs for balanced flavor and tenderizing the chicken. The accompanying sauces enhance the smoky grilled meat with creamy and bright elements, rounding out the dish.

Description

This Greek Chicken Souvlaki recipe centers on chicken breast pieces soaked in a marinade of lemon juice and zest, olive oil, honey, red wine vinegar, dried oregano, garlic, and parsley. Marinating for at least 30 minutes allows the flavors to infuse and tenderizes the meat. The chicken is then threaded onto skewers and grilled or cooked on a grill pan until cooked through and slightly charred.

The yogurt sauce combines plain Greek yogurt with lemon juice, cucumber, dill, salt, and pepper, providing a cool, creamy complement to the savory grilled chicken. Alongside, a tomato cucumber olive relish with diced kalamata and green olives, red wine vinegar, honey, olive oil, and parsley adds a fresh and tangy contrast. These elements bring a balance of flavors and textures: smoky, creamy, tangy, and herbaceous.

Serving the chicken souvlaki with the sauces makes for a bright and flavorful meal inspired by traditional Greek street food. The marinating step and fresh accompaniments are key to its character.
