Greek Sloppy Joes

Greek Sloppy Joes offer a savory ground beef filling cooked with red onion, green bell pepper, and garlic, simmered in tomato sauce and beef broth with oregano. Topped with feta and kalamata olives, this twist on a classic sandwich brings Mediterranean flavors to a toasted brioche bun for a hearty meal.

Description

This recipe starts by browning ground beef with chopped red onion and green bell pepper in olive oil. Once the beef is browned, garlic, tomato sauce, beef broth, tomato paste, and oregano are added and cooked until the sauce reduces and thickens slightly, concentrating the flavors.

Before serving, crumbled feta cheese and chopped kalamata olives are stirred on top to add creamy, salty, and tangy accents characteristic of Greek cuisine. The filling is served inside a toasted brioche bun, melding tender meatiness with the briny toppings.

The combination of classic sloppy joe texture with Mediterranean ingredients offers a distinct fusion sandwich. The use of tomato and beef broth creates a flavorful base that carries the oregano and savory toppings well.
