Grilled Chicken Cordon Bleu
Description
The recipe starts with a marinade of Dijon mustard, honey, soy sauce, and fresh lemon juice. Chicken breasts soak in this mixture for up to 4 hours, infusing flavor and helping keep the meat juicy during grilling. Grilled over medium heat for 6 to 7 minutes per side, the chicken reaches the safe internal temperature of 170°F while acquiring a lightly charred exterior.
After grilling, slices of ham and Swiss cheese are layered on each breast. Closing the grill allows the cheese to melt gently, creating a smooth, slightly tangy topping that balances the savory ham and mustard marinade. The reserved marinade is combined with mayonnaise to form a mild, tangy sauce which complements the dish when served.
This grilled version of Chicken Cordon Bleu offers a smoky alternative to oven-baked preparations, suitable for outdoor cooking and informal meals.
