Grilled Greek Chicken Souvlaki

This staple Greek street food is a breeze to make. Marinated chicken breasts are seasoned with Greek herbs and seasoning before being grilled to juicy perfection.

Ingredients

  • 2 Pounds chicken breast Cut into 1 inch cubes

Marinade

  • 3 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 Tablespoon yogurt plain, Greek
  • 2 Tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 4 garlic minced, or 2 tablespoon Garlic Squeeze (see note, cloves
  • 2 teaspoon oregano chopped, fresh
  • 1 teaspoon mint chopped, fresh
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper fresh

Instructions

  1. In a medium sized bowl combine all of the marinade ingredients, then add the chicken pieces.
  2. Cover and refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours.
  3. When ready to cook preheat grill to 350 degrees, set up for direct and indirect heat.
  4. Skewer the chicken pieces on wooden or metal skewers.
  5. Grill over direct heat for 3 minutes, then flip and cook an additional 3 minutes.
  6. Move to indirect heat and cook until the internal temp of the chicken is 165 degrees (about 5-10 minutes).
  7. Serve with tzatziki sauce and warm pita bread.

Notes

  • If using Garlic Squeeze instead of fresh garlic, reduce the olive oil in the marinade by 1 tablespoon.
