Grinch Oreo Balls

Grinch Oreo Balls are bite-sized treats made by blending crushed Oreo cookies with cream cheese, then shaping into balls and dipping in green candy melts. The finished confections are decorated with red heart sprinkles and a drizzle of candy coating, offering a creamy, chocolatey, and festive snack ideal for holiday occasions.

Description

This recipe uses crushed Oreo cookies combined with room-temperature cream cheese to form a smooth dough. Rolled into one-inch balls, they provide a rich, dense, and sweet center with the characteristic Oreo flavors softened by the cream cheese. After chilling on parchment, the balls are coated in melted green candy melts thinned with coconut oil for a smooth dipping consistency.

The coated balls are chilled briefly to set and then decorated by drizzling remaining candy melts and adding red heart sprinkles, enhancing their visual appeal and providing a colorful contrast. The candy coating gives a firm shell to the creamy interior.

These Oreo balls are refrigerated until served and best kept chilled due to the cream cheese content. They offer a no-bake treat that can be prepared ahead and displayed for holiday parties or gift-giving.

Reheating candy melts gently during the process helps maintain a suitable texture for dipping and decorating. Toothpicks assist in dipping and placing the balls without damaging the coating. Red heart sprinkles can be attached with a dab of melted candy before the coating sets.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 36 Oreo cookies
  • 12 ounces Candy Melts vibrant green
  • 8 ounce cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 TBS coconut oil
  • 35 Large Sprinkles red heart

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Use a food processor to finely chop the Oreos, making sure there are no large chunks.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the chopped Oreos and cream cheese together then roll into 1" balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Using a microwave-safe bowl, melt the candy melts in the microwave on high, stirring every thirty seconds, until fully melted and smooth.
  5. Add the coconut oil to the melted candy and stir well. If it's too thick you can add a bit more oil until it is a good dipping consistency.
  6. Pour the melted candy into a small jar or cup and use a toothpick to dip the balls in the melted candy and coat them completely. Tap them on the edge of the container to remove any access candy coating, then put them back on the baking sheet and chill for 10 minutes, until hardened.
  7. Place remaining melted candy coating in frosting bag or a plastic bag with the corner snipped off. Drizzle balls with melted candy coating then immediately place a red heart sprinkle on the top of each ball.
  8. Chill for about 5 minutes, until hardened, before serving.

Notes

  • Reheat candy melts as needed to keep them smooth for dipping or drizzling.
  • Use a second toothpick to help place dipped balls back on the baking sheet.
  • Patch any uncovered spots with melted candy using a toothpick.
  • Attach sprinkles by dabbing them with a small amount of melted candy to help them stick.
  • Store the Oreo balls in the refrigerator and limit their time at room temperature to two hours due to the cream cheese filling.
