- ½ cup unsalted butter softened, 1 stick
- 1 cup granulated sugar divided, plus 1 tablespoon
- 2 egg large
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 3 cups ground cherries husked and washed, husk or Cape gooseberries
- Fruit halved or quartered depending on size, 3 cups, your favorite in-season
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice fresh
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
