Ground Mongolian Beef

This Ground Mongolian Beef recipe features lean ground beef cooked deeply browned in sesame oil, then tossed in a sauce of soy, mirin, rice vinegar, and brown sugar. Fresh garlic and ginger add aromatic notes, with sesame seeds and red pepper flakes providing nuttiness and subtle heat. The finished dish is glossy and flavorful, ideal for serving with rice or noodles, garnished with scallions for fresh bite and color.

Description

Ground Mongolian Beef combines lean ground beef seared until richly browned in sesame oil with a blend of aromatic garlic and fresh ginger. The meat is then simmered with a sweet-savory sauce made from mirin, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and lite soy sauce, which reduces to a shiny glaze coating the beef. Crushed red pepper flakes bring a gentle spice, while sesame seeds enhance the nutty flavor profile.

Chopped scallions sprinkled on top add a fresh contrast to the deep flavors and tender texture of the ground meat. The dish is prepared quickly in a single pan, creating a balanced combination of sweet, salty, and mildly spicy notes. It pairs well over steamed rice, noodles, or wrapped in lettuce leaves for a flavorful meal.
