Guava Frosting

Guava Frosting combines softened butter with sweet guava paste and powdered sugar, creating a smooth, creamy topping ideal for decorating cakes and cupcakes. The addition of heavy cream and vanilla balances sweetness with a rich, silky texture that holds well for piping or spreading. A pinch of salt enhances the guava's natural fruitiness, making this frosting unique and flavorful for tropical-inspired desserts.

Description

Guava Frosting uses guava paste blended smoothly with soft salted butter as its base. Powdered sugar is added gradually along with heavy cream to control consistency, resulting in a luscious, creamy frosting that can be piped or spread. Vanilla adds subtle aromatic notes, while a pinch of salt balances the sweetness. The cream's quantity is adjusted for the desired texture, making it versatile for decorating purposes.

This frosting pairs well with light cakes and cupcakes, especially those with tropical or citrus flavors. Its smooth texture and delicate fruity sweetness complement rather than overpower the dessert. Guava paste gives it a distinct flavor profile uncommon in typical frostings.

The recipe advises gradual mixing of powdered sugar and cream to achieve the right consistency. Scraping the bowl during mixing helps maintain uniform texture and prevents clumps. This frosting should be used promptly for best texture and appearance.

  • 10 ounces guava paste cut into chunks
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 4-6 Tablespoons heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
