Halloween Creepy Jello Cups

These Halloween Creepy Jello Cups feature orange-flavored gelatin semi-set to allow gummy body part candies to partially embed, creating a spooky effect. The gelatin fully sets around the candy for an eerie, playful presentation, making these cups a fun Halloween treat that balances sweet gelatin flavor with the chewy candy texture.

Description

Halloween Creepy Jello Cups use orange-flavored gelatin dissolved in boiling water and chilled until partially set, soft enough to insert gummy candies shaped like body parts without melting them. Once the candies are embedded, the cups return to the refrigerator until fully firm, encasing the gummies in translucent orange gelatin that enhances the creepy theme. The semi-set stage is critical to prevent the candy from melting and to suspend it suitably.

Served chilled but allowed to sit just minutes before serving, this softens the candy for a better bite. These cups are convenient to prepare up to two days in advance and should be stored covered in the fridge for up to four days. Freezing is not recommended as it negatively affects texture and appearance. The playful combination of gelatin and gummy candies makes them a distinctive treat for Halloween festivities.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 ounce gelatin powder 85 g, orange flavor
  • 2 cups water boiling
  • gummy candy body parts shape, available at local supermarkets

Instructions

  1. In a heatproof glass pitcher, dissolve gelatin powder in boiling water, stirring very well until gelatin is completely dissolved. Pour mixture into 80 ml (about 3-ounce) plastic mini cups and refrigerate for about 1 hour, or until gelatin is semi-set (not liquid, but also not yet completely set...i.e. it is just starting to solidify, so that candy can still penetrate easily into the gelatin).
  2. Remove cups from the refrigerator and place one gummy body part into each cup. Refrigerate for about 2 hours or until gelatin has completely set. Remove jello cups 10 to 15 minutes prior to serving ( so that candy can soften)... Enjoy!!!

Notes

  • Do not add gummy candy to hot gelatin to avoid melting and losing shape.
  • Prepare these jello cups up to two days before serving for best results.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator and consume within four days; freezing is not advised.
