Halloween Peanut Butter Spiders

Halloween Peanut Butter Spiders are bite-sized peanut butter balls shaped into spiders using pretzel legs and chocolate chips for eyes. The dough is made from creamy peanut butter mixed with brown sugar and flour, chilled for firmness, then rolled into balls. Pretzel sticks are inserted for legs, and mini chocolate chips form the eyes, creating a spooky yet sweet treat served chilled, ideal for festive gatherings or as a creative snack.

Description

This recipe creates a thematic peanut butter snack shaped like spiders for Halloween. The dough is formed by combining creamy peanut butter and brown sugar, then incorporating flour to create a dough that can be rolled into small balls. Chilling the dough in the freezer firms it up, which makes it easier to shape and decorate.

Once chilled, small balls are rolled in flour and formed into spider bodies. Pretzel sticks cut in half serve as legs, inserted on each side of the balls. Mini semi-sweet chocolate chips or vegan chocolate chips are used for eyes, placed on top to give a spider-like appearance. These spiders are then refrigerated further to set, making them easier to handle.

The spiders should be served chilled but can soften at room temperature, so serving them in mini cupcake cases or with napkins is handy to avoid mess. This creative treat blends the creaminess and sweetness of peanut butter with crunchy pretzel legs and chocolate eyes, making it both playful and delicious.

Ingredients

Servings
  • ½ cup peanut butter creamy
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • pretzel sticks for legs, halved
  • semi-sweet chocolate chips for eyes, mini, vegan

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, stir together the peanut butter and sugars.
  2. In a pie pan, pour some flour and begin to roll small balls of peanut butter.
  3. Freeze for about 1 hour. Remove from the freezer and put three spider legs on each side of the ball and vegan chocolate chip as eyes (see photos for reference).
  4. Refrigerate some more if you'd like it to harden some more. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use creamy peanut butter for a smooth, rollable dough; if the mixture is too soft, add more flour to achieve stiffness.
  • Chilling the peanut butter dough before shaping makes handling easier and prevents sticking.
  • Serve these peanut butter spiders chilled to maintain their shape; they soften quickly at room temperature.
  • Using mini cupcake cases can help contain mess and make serving easier.
