Ingredients

Servings
  • 9 oz Rice Krispies cereal divided
  • 20 oz mini marshmallows divided
  • ½ c butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • Sprinkles Halloween variety
  • ¼ cup candy corn

Instructions

  1. Line a 9x13 baking dish with a piece of parchment paper.
  2. Begin by melting butter in a large pot.
  3. Once fully melted add 15 ounces (roughly 1 1/2 bags) of mini marshmallows into the pot. Set remaining marshmallows to the side for later. Mix with rubber spatula. Stir continuously until the marshmallows have fully melted.
  4. Remove from heat, then stir in vanilla and salt.
  5. Add roughly half of the rice cereal to the marshmallow mixture. Make sure to scrape the bottom thoroughly to incorporate all the marshmallow mixture.
  6. Once mixed, add in the remaining marshmallows and rice cereal. Stir gently until everything is combined.
  7. Pour the rice krispy treat mixture into the parchment lined baking dish and press down gently with a piece of parchment paper or silicone spatula to create an even layer.
  8. Sprinkle Halloween sprinkles and candy corn on top of the rice krispies. Press down gently using the piece of parchment paper.
  9. Allow to set for at least 10 minutes then remove parchment paper from the baking dish and cut into squares using a sharp knife.

Notes

  • Make sure to be gentle, you don't want to smash all the cereal pieces.
  • Store leftover rice krispie treats in an airtight container for up to five days before throwing away.
  • Change things up and add your favorite Halloween treats like candy eyes, colored M&Ms, or really anything else! It’s a fun way to change up the recipe but still get a sweet treat out of it!
