Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 ounces egg noodles uncooked
  • 8 lices Bacon coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup onion finely diced
  • 4 cups green cabbage cored and cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon parsley chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles in salted water according to package directions.
  2. Heat a large pan over medium high heat. Add the bacon and cook until browned, 4-5 minutes.
  3. Add the onions to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes or until they are translucent.
  4. Add the cabbage, salt and pepper.
  5. Cook, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is wilted. You may need to add a bit of water to help the cabbage along.
  6. Stir in the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the noodles and butter and toss everything together until well combined.
  7. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.

Notes

  • I like to cut my cabbage into 1 inch pieces, but you can also shred it if you prefer a finer texture.
  • Haluski is best when served immediately, as the bacon will soften as the dish cools.
  • I use extra wide egg noodles because I find they make for a heartier dish, but really any size egg noodles will work.
