Hawaiian Chicken
Description
Hawaiian Chicken features diced boneless, skinless chicken breast cooked with diced bell peppers and fresh pineapple in a rich sauce blending soy sauce, dark brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, barbecue sauce, and pineapple juice. The chicken is first seared to form a golden crust, then simmered in the sauce to let the flavors meld and thicken to a glossy finish. The bell peppers are sautéed to retain some tenderness before being combined back into the dish, adding freshness and color. This combination provides a sweet and tangy profile with a satisfying, sticky coating.
The dish is served over white rice, which helps to soak up the sauce and balances the fruity and savory components. The rice base makes it a filling option suitable for a family meal.
The recipe uses common ingredients and straightforward methods including sautéing and simmering, allowing the sauce to reduce to a thick consistency that coats the chicken and vegetables evenly. This approach ensures that the chicken remains juicy and the pineapple adds bursts of sweetness throughout.
